Spring enrollment makes record
As of the census date on April 12, Columbus State’s Spring Quarter 2010 headcount and FTE (full time equivalent) numbers made another record. The headcount stood at 28,486 paid students compared to the Spring Quarter 2009 headcount of 24,368. This represents a 16.9% increase from a year ago. Total FTE for Spring Quarter 2010 is 18651.85 compared to 15,570.95 FTE from Spring 2009 - a 19.79% increase.
The Spring Quarter headcount also outpaced the Autumn Quarter 2009 census day headcount by 177 students.

New student group debuts on Earth Day
Students for Sustainability is excited to make its first appearance on campus on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22 in the Nestor Hall East Lounge. The group will hold a prize drawing for tickets to see the new movie “Oceans” which will be released in theaters on Earth Day! Come by and join in the fun, learn something new, and get involved! Summer is around the corner! Is your team up for the challenge?
The Wellness Initiative Body Challenge VIII will begin April 26, and run through June 6, so now is the time to enter your team to win! The Wellness Challenge is designed to set wellness goals and motivate you to get fit and healthy. Here’s how to enter:
Interested employees should select 10 people, with one person designated as a Captain to coordinate efforts for their group. Captains will collect all contact information for their team members and will be the point person for communication throughout the Challenge. All teams should have a name.
The competition works on a point system. For every hour of activity, you will earn wellness points (physical activities, wellness seminars, wellness classes, support groups, walking, etc.) Tracking sheets and step log sheets will be distributed to Team Captains.
Teams will submit totals for Mid-Way Check-In to evaluate Team standings.
Further direction will be given once you are entered into the Challenge.All Team members and captains must adhere to the guidelines, tracking and logging of activities. All participants are required to track and trun in information by the deadlines. All recorded information will be submitted to the Wellness Advisory Committee at the end of the competition. Non-adherence will result in team elimination.
Points will be given for Wellness Fair activities.
The Top Team will receive a prize. Everyone will be recognized

Don’t miss the annual Wellness Fair
The Wellness Fair will again be part of In-Service Day on Friday, April 23 in the Nestor Hall lounge and the lower level from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. There will be 30 vendors, prizes, massages, biometric screenings for the Wellness Incentive Program from 8 a.m. through noon ( sign up for these through Web MD). Also: Salsa, line dancing, Zumba and meditation demonstrations and a raffle prize drawing at 1:45 p.m.!
