Campus community mourns
We are saddened to report that President Moeller’s husband, Bob Moeller, passed away on Sunday afternoon.
As a former community college administrator, Mr. Moeller understood our mission well, and was an enthusiastic supporter of Columbus State. We were fortunate to have him on our team.
A memorial service will be held in September. Details will be shared when the arrangements are final.
In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate contributions to the Campos-Moeller Scholarship Fund which provides scholarships to Columbus State Students. The Fund is held by the Columbus State Community College Foundation, Franklin Hall, 550 E. Spring Street, Columbus, OH 43216. Contributions may also be made to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society, c/o Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
Presto Change-o!Almost overnight, the new Fitness Center in the renovated and added-onto Delaware Hall went from an empty mirrored room to full of new weight machines and fitness equipment. Physical Plant staff members got their own workout last week moving the new pieces into the space. The Center will be ready for workouts at the start of Fall Quarter. The Center is currently closed, including locker rooms and the former exercise areas, until Wednesday, September 23.
Deans don hardhats for tour Standing in front of the under-renovation office building at the Delaware Campus are, from left, Paul Goggin, Interim Director of Facilities Services; Polly Owen, Dean of Career and Technical Programs; Martin Maliwesky, Dean of Enrollment Services; Jack Cooley, Dean of Arts and Sciences; and Steve Shinn and Kevin McCleery, of Philip Markwood Architects. The group got together to take a “hardhat tour” of the campus last week. They are shown in front of the office building that was already on the site, and which is undergoing renovation to house faculty and staff offices when the Delaware Campus opens Fall Quarter 2010! Volunteers sought for holiday event The members of the Columbus State Alumni Association are already busy planning a scholarship fundraising event, “Breakfast with Santa,” to be held in early December on campus. They would like to have additional volunteers for the event, and encourage faculty, staff, and other alumni to contact them if they might be interested in helping! Email Cookie Zingarelli for more information.
