Three-part Financial Wellness workshop starts WednesdayA three-part Lunch and Learn workshop on Financial Wellness will kick off Wednesday, April 22, with the first session covering budgeting and goal setting.
Lunch and Learn workshops are offered from 12.15–1:15 p.m. in the Center for Workforce Development Room 302.
The second session will be held April 29 on retirement planning. The third session, May 6, will cover debt reductions and housing equity. New dispatcher joins Columbus State during special weekColumbus State Public Safety Department dispatcher Abu Farah recently joined the staff during National Public Safety Telecommunicator’s Week. According to John Nestor, director of Public Safety, the role of a dispatcher is to get the right information to the right people at the right time, and remain calm. “Columbus State’s public safety dispatchers handle over 50,000 campus calls for service per year,” says Nestor. “They are the 24-7 lifeline for campus in dispatching campus police, security, paramedics or firefighters when time matters to protect life and preserve property. Thanks to them, assistance is only a phone call away at extension 2525.”

Employee recognition event scheduled for June 5Although the Spring In-Service has been the occasion for Columbus State to recognize employees’ contributions in various areas of service, this year the college will honor employees at the Employee Celebration of Excellence on Friday, June 5.
Service Award recipients, Distinguished Teaching Award recipients and the Staff Member of the Year will be recognized. The Employee Celebration of Excellence will be held at the Confluence Park Restaurant from 6-11 p.m.

Wellness Challenge hits midway markThe fifth Wellness Challenge recently passed the midway point with The Determinators, led by Julie Van Wynseberghe, racking up 15,493 points. In second place is Wii R Fit, led by Debbie Pond with 13,226 points. A total of 19 teams with 10 members each are competing in Wellness Challenge V, which will wrap up in May.
