Room 1: Exploring Crayons
For the infant art experience, Karla brought in a large piece of white paper and some chunky crayons. Some of the children immediately picked up the crayons and began making marks on the paper. Others experimented with the way the crayons sounded when they hit the table, the way they felt on their hands, and the way that they tasted.

Room 2: What’s Inside?
Several containers filled with colored yarn, along with colored bottles, were brought in for the infants to explore at the light table. Some of the children focused on the light table and explored various items that caught their eye in the glow of the box. Others enjoyed the discovery of opening the containers and finding the bright rainbow hues. Still others concentrated on the action of taking the lid off and trying to put it back on.

The Surprise of Color
How the package became more interesting than the colors inside.
Several containers filled with colored yarn were brought in for the infants to explore. The discovery became more about the action of taking off and putting on the lids than the rainbow of yarn that was hidden inside.

After several attempts to push the lids onto the containers, they discovered what was inside and added the action of pulling out the yarn and trying to push it back into the container.
